Summary

This is a simple refactoring: Some git-related functions have been used to a different module and the old functions have been deprecated.

Focus

Just check whether you are fine with my decision and whether the functions are called from the deprecated ones correctly.

Test Environment

It looks like these functions were tested manually before. Feel free to add a feature request for unit tests for these functions.
