Add Python 3.12, remove Python 3.7?

• Added Python 3.12 with allow_failure to pipeline and unit tests
• Create folllow-ups for all new incompatibilities
• Also check whether 3.7 is end-of-life and should be removed

In the branch f-py312 (!132 (merged)) I've so far added Python 3.12 to the unit tests and the GitLab pipeline. With pynose instead of nose all unit tests work.
